FORT MYERS, Fla. – Struggling homeowners facing foreclosure in Lee County may find some temporary relief through a federally funded pilot program. $23 million is available for about 1,200 homeowners using mortgage intervention funding.

The program is for homeowners unemployed or underemployed, a household income below $84,980 and living in your primary residence with an original mortgage less than $297,430. The help can be used for up to nine months of mortgage payments with a 0% loan. The loan will be forgiven over a five year period if the homeowner stays current and remains in the home.

Real estate contributor Denny Grimes joined us Friday to explain the program. Even more information can be found at: http://www.flhardesthithelp.org
